miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kits - Tissue

High quality column-based RNA purification kit specially adapted for total RNA isolation from a tissue samples. The kits are fully compatible with RNAlater® and Exiqon’s miRCURY line of products and the purified RNA can be used for numerous downstream applications. Features

The miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kit - Tissue is based on spin column chromatography using a proprietary resin as the separation matrix. Total RNA is separated from other cell components, such as proteins, without the use of toxic phenol or chloroform in an easy 20 to 50 min (depending on the sample source) protocol.

The kits include optimized protocols for total RNA extraction from tissue samples. These protocols consist of three simple steps (see also Figure 1):
  1. The cells or tissue are lysed with the provided Lysis solution
  2. Ethanol is added and the solution is loaded onto the column
  3. The solution is washed and eluted with the included Wash and Elusion solutions, respectively

Coverage

The miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kit – Tissue is an excellent method for purification of total RNA from animal tissue samples.

The kit contains spin columns and regents for 50 total RNA purifications. As the kit is used for the isolation of total RNA, ranging from large messenger and ribosomal RNAs down to microRNAs and other small RNAs, the purified RNA can be used for a large number of downstream applications.

High quality total RNA

The quality of the RNA isolated from our miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kits is at least as high as that obtained using phenol/chloroform based approaches, as determined by OD measurements and analysis using Agilent Bioanalyzers (Figure 1). However, column-based purification techniques offer distinct advantages over phenol or Trizol based techniques in that high quality results are achieved very easily and with higher reproducibility. Furthermore, downstream applications such as qPCR and microarray analysis are very sensitive to phenol carry-over, a problem that is completely avoided by using our column-based kits.

Easy RNA isolations from difficult tissues

The miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kit –Tissue provides rapid protocols for RNA purification from all types of animal tissue. For better removal of proteins from difficult fiber-rich tissue, e.g., muscle, or lipid-rich tissue such as brain, the kit has been fortified with Proteinase K. The miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kits produce excellent quality RNA from such difficult tissues (Figure 2).
 

Excellent compatibility with tissue preserved in RNAlater®

RNA purified from tissue stored in RNAlater® (Ambion) is of the same high quality as RNA from fresh frozen tissue (Figure 3). This further highlights the usefulness and convenience of the miRCURY™ RNA Isolation Kits.

Ideal for a number of downstream applications

The purified total RNA is of the highest quality and can be used in a large number of downstream applications, including quantitative real-time PCR, microarray analysis, Northern blotting, RNase protection and primer extension assays. In addition, these kits are ideal for use with our miRCURY LNA™ microRNA Array, qPCR and Northern blot products (Figure 3 & 4).
