We are writing to inform you that Exiqon plans to discontinue the miRCURY LNA™ microRNA PCR system as of July 1st 2010. Exiqon launched in October 2009 a new product for quantification of microRNAs – the miRCURY LNA™ Universal RT microRNA PCR system. Our order history records indicate that you have purchased the “old” miRCURY LNA™ microRNA PCR system in the past 2 years. Exiqon strives to provide you with the highest quality products and support with as little disruption to your research as possible. Therefore, a copy of this notification should be forwarded immediately to any person in your organization affected by this change.
Orders for the “old” miRCURY LNA™ microRNA PCR system will be accepted until July 1st 2010.
We are confident that the new miRCURY LNA™ Universal RT microRNA PCR system for quantification of microRNAs offers an improved product with superior assay performance and increased ease of use.
The following page outlines the details of this product replacement and the product numbers affected.
If you would like more information about this discontinuation and the new miRCURY LNA™ Universal RT microRNA PCR system, please contact your local Exiqon sales representative or technical support staff at Exiqon. Please find contact details at www.exiqon.com/contact and www.exiqon.com/distributors.

Information about Product Discontinuation and suggested replacement:
The miRCURY LNA™ Universal RT microRNA PCR system provides a fast and efficient conversion of all microRNAs into cDNA in a single reverse transcription reaction. By using the same cDNA as template in all subsequent PCR reactions, the procedure is greatly simplified compared to systems that require microRNA-specific first-strand synthesis.
Features and benefits of new product:
Universal RT – One first-strand cDNA synthesis reaction (or RT reaction) can be used as template for multiple microRNA real-time PCR assays. This saves precious sample, reduces technical variation and saves time in the laboratory.
LNA™ PCR amplification – Both PCR amplification primers (forward and reverse) are microRNA specific and optimized with LNA™. The result Is 1) exceptional sensitivity as well as extremely low background enabling quantification of very low microRNA levels and 2) highly specific assays that allow discrimination between closely related microRNA sequences.
