Since the discovery of extracellular microRNA only a few years ago, they have been detected in a large number of biofluids and it is becoming clear that these small regulating RNAs can be used as informative biomarkers to assess and monitor the physiopathological state of the body.
However, the study of microRNA in biofluids is challenging both due to the target and the samples involved and requires highly optimized reagents and protocols as well as strict attention to experimental procedure.
