microRNA profiling services workflow

Consultation
When you place an order with Exiqon microRNA Profiling Services, you are assured direct communication with the scientists performing your experiments throughout the duration of the project. Each service project
begins with a consultation with an expert, who has a wealth of experience in microRNA expression profiling, in order to discuss the optimal experimental design and final data analysis.

Sample submission and quality control
After designing the experiment, you complete the sample submission form. Technical specialists will review the information to make sure there are no outstanding questions and will then ask you to ship your samples. Our specialists will assess the integrity of each sample, its content of small RNA and its concentration. The results of this assessment will be provided in an email link to Exiqon’s secure web server. Resubmission may be required for samples with inadequate RNA quality.

Labeling and hybridization
Exiqon’s microRNA profiling experts employ miRCURY LNA™ Power Labeling Kit to ensure the highly efficient and uniform labeling of microRNAs with minimal sequence bias. hybridization and washing steps are fully automated for excellent reproducibility.

Data collection and analysis
Arrays are scanned with highly sensitive equipment in an ozone-free environment to reduce day-to-day variation. Image analysis is then performed to quantitate the signals on the arrays. The data obtained is normalized using methods applicable to the performed experiment. Data analysis is customized to your specifications and a technical quality assessment of the data is performed based on results from spike-in controls.

Delivery of report
Upon completion of the microRNA profiling service, you will receive an email with a link to a secure web-server from which you can download the final report and all associated files. The summary report provides a
quick overview of the results along with publication-grade illustrations. The report also contains all information required for deposition of results in public gene expression databases according to the MIAME guidelines. Additional consultation with Exiqon scientists is available by email or phone.
