microRNA detection by Northern blotting
microRNA detection with miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes: detect your miRNA on Northern blots faster and with higher sensitivity and specificity than standard probes.
Key benefits:
Preserve your precious RNA samples
Superior to DNA probes
Fast – get results in a few hours
Detect miRNA in as little as 2.5 µg total RNA
Exiqons miRCURY™ technology enables sensitive and specific detection of miRNAs by Northern blotting. miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes have high binding affinity and discrimination, enabling the specific and sensitive detection of miRNAs. Due to the high binding affinity of the miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes less than 1/10 the amount of sample is needed compared to traditional probes. Furthermore, the exposure time is reduced to just a few hours. For researchers who wish to detect miRNAs on Northern blots by non-radioactive methods, we recommend the use of DIG-tailing, where multiple DIG moeities are added to the miRCURY™ probe.
Pre-designed miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes are available for all known miRNAs in invertebrates, vertebrates and plants, as registered and annotated in the miRNA Registry at The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Please click here to view prices and labeling options.
The following control miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes are available: sense-miR-159, scramble-miR and U6. These probes have the same length and LNA content as the miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes probes and they bear no homology to any known miRNA or mRNA sequence in human, mouse and rat. click here to view prices and labeling options.
Custom miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes are available for your own miRNAs. Please enquire.
All probes are available as ready-to-label as well as 3´ or 5´ prelabeled probes.
Using miRCURY™ LNA Detection probes double and even single mismatches are readily discriminated as shown in Figure 1 and 2.
